Inspiring Stories Children’s Writing Competition

Fancy getting your short story published and promoted across the North West, Yorkshire and beyond? Want to see it brought to life with a professionally designed front cover? How about having it judged by high-profile authors including Frank Cottrell Boyce, creator of the spectacular Olympic Opening Ceremony?

The You Can Foster Inspiring Stories Competition is now OPEN for submissions. The competition is open to all children in care, care leavers and children of foster carers, up to the age of 25.

Your story can be fiction or non fiction, but must be inspiring, uplifting and tell a tale about dreams, ambition or determination.

There are five categories, outlined below, and full terms and conditions can be found here.

  1. a)      Fostered children* up to 8 years old
  2. b)      Fostered children 9-12
  3. c)      Fostered teenagers 13-17
  4. d)      Fostered young adults** 18 – 25
  5. e)      Birth children in fostering households – up to 18

*‘Fostered children’ includes those who are currently in foster care or have been in foster care before.

**‘Fostered young adults’ includes those in staying put placements and care leavers.
